Budapest during the time of the Millennium (1896) – a historic walking tour

Imagine Budapest in 1896 when passengers reach their destinations within the city by tram or by the second oldest underground of Europe, a telephone centre makes communication smoother and thanks to public lightning the city becomes safer. Budapest is one of the largest and most modern cities in Europe at this time.

We start our tour at the Heroes Square, where you can listen to the most important events of hungarian history. Then we continue to walk in the City Park to see the impressive Art Nouveau decorated gate at the Municipal Zoological and Botanical Garden, the neobaroque building of the Széchenyi Thermal Spa, the Circus and the Castle Vajdahunyad.

Let us not forget to visit the new highlights of the park: The House of Music and The Museum of Ethnography.

We finish our walk at the Andrássy Avenue, which was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.
